General Dentist | Miami Village Dental

Meet Dr Jason

Dr Jason is a General Dentist at Miami Village Dental, bringing 11 years of clinical experience since graduating in 2015. He completed his Bachelor of Health Science in Dentistry and Master of Dentistry at La Trobe University.

His areas of clinical interest include general dentistry, root canal treatment (including molar root canal therapy), cosmetic dentistry, crowns and bridges, same-day CAD/CAM crowns, children's dentistry, and preventive dentistry. He particularly enjoys helping patients understand how to maintain good oral health through personalised oral hygiene guidance and practical advice.

Dr Jason's approach to dentistry is centred around trust, clear communication, and providing care that is genuinely in his patients' best interests. He believes patients should fully understand their treatment options so they can make informed decisions about their oral health, and focuses on prevention wherever possible, taking the time needed to achieve high-quality clinical outcomes.

He understands that many people feel anxious about visiting the dentist, and his goal is to create a comfortable, supportive environment where patients feel listened to and respected — with every treatment decision guided by sound clinical judgement and what's right for each individual patient.

Dr Jason was drawn to dentistry because he enjoys hands-on, detailed work and the combination of technical skill and patient care. Having had his own negative experiences with dentistry in the past, he set out to become the kind of dentist patients can trust — someone who listens, explains, and genuinely cares about doing the right thing.

Outside of dentistry, Dr Jason is married with three children, including an older daughter and twins. Being a father has helped him develop a natural connection with children and understand how to make younger patients feel comfortable during dental visits. He enjoys calming classical music, and one of his favourite places to visit is Queenstown, New Zealand, where he loves spending time with his family.

Patient FAQs

Many people believe that brushing well is the main way to prevent cavities, and while excellent brushing is extremely important, there's another major factor to consider: how often your teeth are exposed to sugar. Even the best brushers can develop cavities if their teeth are frequently exposed to sweets, sugary drinks, or frequent snacking — every time we consume sugar, the bacteria in our mouth produce acids that can weaken the tooth surface. Dr Jason's advice is to focus not only on good brushing and flossing habits, but also on reducing the frequency of sugar exposure throughout the day. Small changes, such as limiting snacking between meals and choosing water as your main drink, can make a significant difference in protecting your teeth.
A crown isn't always needed for every damaged tooth. The decision depends on the amount of healthy tooth structure remaining, the size and location of any cracks or fillings, the strength of the tooth, and the forces it experiences when you bite. A crown is often recommended when a tooth has become weakened and needs extra protection — for example, teeth with large fillings, significant cracks, or that have undergone root canal treatment may benefit from the added strength a crown provides. Dr Jason's approach is always to preserve as much healthy tooth structure as possible, and he'll explain why a crown may or may not be suitable for your situation so you can make an informed decision.
It depends on the history of your symptoms, the condition of the tooth, and how close the decay or damage is to the nerve. The tooth nerve can be unpredictable — some teeth with deep decay remain comfortable for a long time, while others become painful or infected more quickly. This is why Dr Jason believes early treatment is so valuable: addressing problems before they become more advanced maximises the chance of saving the tooth, and can potentially reduce the need for root canal treatment. When root canal treatment is necessary, the goal is to remove infection or inflammation, relieve symptoms, and preserve your natural tooth for as long as possible.
Dr Jason likes to keep oral health simple with three golden rules. First, excellent brushing — brush carefully twice a day using good technique to remove plaque, the main cause of tooth decay and gum problems. Second, excellent flossing — brushing alone can't clean effectively between your teeth, so daily flossing helps remove plaque from areas your toothbrush can't reach. Third, drink water throughout the day — water helps wash away food particles, reduces acid exposure, and supports a healthier mouth environment after eating or drinking. Good oral health isn't about one single habit — it's about consistent daily choices that protect your teeth for the long term.
